2008 Authors - Disruptive Technologies in K-16 Education

Take the opportunity to learn about the authors of this wiki. They have a wide-range of careers, years of experience and ages that give this wiki a richer depth of knowledge and understanding.

Welcome to the Disruptive Technologies wiki and to class. I look forward to meeting each of you on Thursday evening.  This is going to be a fun class and I am sure you will learn as much as all of us did last year. Having the time to learn a new technology that you have been interested in and receiving graduate credit makes this class a winner all the way around.

I look forward to meeting each of you on Thursday evening.

Veronica Baca

Let me start off by saying hi to all those that will be taking this summer course and hi to Dr. Butler for the welcome.  I'm looking forward to another exciting course within the Ed. Tech. Program.  I have a couple of semesters to go before graduation and can't wait.  A little background of myself: I'm currently an elementary physical educator at R. D. Martinez in Sharyland.  I've been in the education field for the past 7 years and am ready for a career change.  My residency is in Harlingen, Texas and I've been married for the past 3 years to a physical educator as well.  I spend my time studying and exercising and anything that can keep me busy.  I look forward to the upcoming summer and meeting new peers and catching up with the old.  Have a great semester all and good luck with the rest of the summer.

David Plummer

I am currently a doctoral student in the Ed Leadership program at Texas A&M - Kingsville.  I have taken several courses in this program as electives for my doctorate.  I work at South Texas College in McAllen as an administrator.  My areas include security, risk management, insurance and document retention among others.  I am married and have three sons. I'm looking forward to a very fast paced but enjoyable summer session with all of you.

Paola A. Villalón-Perezsandi

Currently I am a Bilingual Elementary Teacher in North East ISD located in San Antonio, TX. I have taught for 8 years out of which 4.5 were in Brownsville and 3.5 are where I am today. For the past 2 years, I have been the Webpage Coordinator for my campus and part of the Technology Committee that conducts trainings to the staff. I am very excited to begin my M.Ed. in Educational Technology where I also hope to receive the Master Technology Teacher Certification. I am married and have a year old, beautiful baby boy. I want to learn as much as I can from my classmates and hopefully I'll be able to share what little I do know about technology.

Hi. Courtney Rodgers from Beaumont ( east of Houston). I am just about to finish my sixth year teaching. (Why is school still in?!?) I teach 7th grade English and reading. This is my second semester in the Ed. Tech program; I am loving every minute so far. Look forward to working with everyone.

I teach developmental reading and English classes at a community college, but am taking the summer off. This summer I will be working on a couple of websites (which I really want to get better at), a newsletter, and this class, but other than that, mostly just listening to a lot of good music (my husband is a musician) and knitting or spinning. I really like the concept of this course - there is so much technology out there that is exciting, but it can be a lot of work to try and find ways to incorporate it into teaching.

Hi, all! My name is Emily Moore, and this summer session marks my return to school after a 15-or-so-year absence (undergrad B.S. in Business Administration). I'm a freelance writer now based in Brownsville, Texas, with a lot of how-to Internet-related books under my belt. After so many years crunching phrases, it's time for a change, so I've decided to pursue a masters degree in Educational Technology. Looking forward to this class and to "meeting" y'all online.

Greetings all.  My name is Kerry Bonugli.  I am returning to pursuing my degree after a brief break.  I am a Campus Technology for Dr. J. G. Cigarroa Middle school in Laredo Texas.  I can't wait to complete my Ed. Tech. degree and working will all of you in the process.  See you all in Wimba!!!

Hello all, my name is Marco A. Gonzalez and I work as a math teacher at Simon Rivera High School in Brownsville, Texas.  The other little "character" in the picture is the latest addition to my family.  At any rate, I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Educational Technology so that I can infuse different technologies into my everyday lessons.  I want to be able to create fun, innovating, and unpredictable lessons for my students so that they can look forward to coming to my class. I am looking forward to working with all of you and also learning from all of you this summer.  I'll hear ya'll laters in Wimba.

Hello Mates. I am employed at Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, Texas. As director of Information Systems & Technology, I manage technical staff who develop, install, deploy and maintain college data, voice, video, web, and distance learning resources and networks. I will finish the MEd program Fall 2008. While technology is not new to me, much of what I have learned in this program is. The MEd program is a determined choice for my personal growth.
