Dave Weiner – A trail blazer in the area of RSS technology.  Weiner developed the scripting news format, an early precursor to the current RSS 2.0.  He also worked in amending RSS scripting to include audio and video capacity which allowed for the development of the podcast.  David is also the author of Scripting News, a blog dedicated to web communications and technology.

 

Ramanathan V. Guha- A computer scientist joined the Netscape Corporation in 1997.  There he helped develop components for Netscape Navigator web browser (ver.  4.5 and 6).   Most importantly, in March 1999, he produced NetServices for Netscape Navigator with included the first version of RSS technology.

 

RSS Specifications everything you need to know about RSS – A concise website dedicated to everything on RSS (i.e. History, technology and relevance).  This website provides links to excellent web resources for the creation and the publication of RSS feeds.

 

Free For All – Software retailer that provides solution for reading and producing RSS based content.  Has excellent links for academic uses for RSS content as well as links to educational RSS feeds.

 

Harvard Law – The current standard for RSS, RSS 2.0 official specifications were passed to the Berkman Center for Internet and Society in 2003.  Here reside the official specifications and fair use guidelines for RSS 2.0.

 

Google Reader- Provide as a component to the Google Appication suite from Google Labs, this is an excellent free RSS aggregator.  It allows you to keep up to date on all your RSS feeds with minimal confusion or effort.
